School Discipline
•School was very different 100 years ago. In the early 1900’s when a student would do something wrong the teacher would hit them with a paddle or ruler or box their ears. Also, many students stopped attending around the 8th grade.
•Today, things are much different. In Michigan, students cannot be physically punished or abused and must attend school until the age of 16 (it will be 18 in 2016). •Are these changes for the better or made things worse? Explain why.
